The Post It Method
It seems fairly obvious, but the post it method is the use of post it notes to visual, mind map, organise, and easily move around project or planning details.
I prefer using the post it method to externalise my thoughts and be able to get everything out of my head, so I can see all my thoughts and projects at once and have the ability to move ideas and group ideas easily without messing up the entire format of my notes.
I do find it easier to collect my information before hand and break it down into post its, rather than write the post its as I go along as I feel it prevents distraction and tangents in my thinking. By making the notes beforehand I can focus on one topic at a time and stay on a role.
This was the original format of the notes and feedback I had collected.
While it was formatted in a way that I could read, it wasn’t practical to use as some sections had repeats or ideas bounced around and were not in a practical order in terms of how I would use the information.
My First Post It Brain Storm
This was a rough grouping of ideas and the main purpose was just to get all ideas on paper and in a more digestible format. Before organising this again in a more cohesive and clear view.
This method would become the basis for my entire Portfolio and I would use this to slowly build my website and every detail of my pages. I still referred back to my original notes for further details but I found it a lot easier to work on one post it at a time and check it off as I went to maintain motivation and create smaller milestones.
I highly enjoy this method of thinking and I also found joy in having my thoughts on my wall as it served as a daily reminder of what I was trying to achieve.
